Time and Patience

I have gardenias potted at my doorstoop.  They have been there for 2 years and have never bloomed.  I’ve moved them in and out of the sun, watered them more often, and when that didn’t work, I then tried to leave them alone.  Still no blossoms.  The idea was to have beautiful, fragrant flowers to greet me and my guests, but sadly, these plants have not delivered.  A few weeks ago, I decided I was going to pull them out and put annuals in their place.  I was ready for flowers!!!  The day after I made this decision, the first gardenia blossomed.  And then another blossom and then another blossom and another.  Just when I was ready to give up on my relationship with these plants, they bloomed.  Time and patience.  Time and patience.
